A new website: What to expect

October 25, 2024 (1w ago)

As you might have seen, this page looks radically different from what you might used to. This will change over the coming months, since this website is a work in progress.

But why?

I used to use Framer to build my website and paid 23,80€ every month. Don't get me wrong, I think the price is fair, since it's a product targeted at professionals. But I just noticed that I have set up my page and then I rarely touched it ever again, so I think paying that price is not justified, at least for me. I'd love to use Framer again, but probably only for large company websites, rather than for a small personal website.

Next.js my beloved

I started using Next.js, Tailwind and some other things for my work on voicenext.app and I immediately fell in love.

Now that Next.js 15 has released, it has became a lot faster and their caching has greatly improved. I also really like the flexibility it now gives me, since I can host my website for free and while customization might be harder than what I'm used to at Framer, it's a much more fun experience in my opinion.

Why does this website look so different?

To quickly switch and avoid payment for this month I quickly spun up this Next.js project, so a lot of things are not consistent and I haven't even added my own design language yet.

Until then, this site will only contain critical content and most images, my branding identity, custom icons and my previous portfolio entries will be missing. Please bear with me while I try to get everything back to the previous state 🙏

Also the website built in Framer will still be available at pukima.framer.website, but it will no longer receive any updates.

Please consider leaving a small tip at my Ko-Fi page. It would mean a lot to me ❤️
