A fresh new website - built with Framer
January 22, 2024 (9mo ago)
I'm excited to share my latest project with you – my brand-new personal website. What makes it even more thrilling is that it's crafted entirely using Framer, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for me.
I've always wanted efficient tools that align with my vision. When it came to building my website, I faced the classic dilemma – should I code it myself (again) or explore alternative platforms? After some thoughtful consideration, I took the plunge into Framer, and boy, am I glad I did.
Let me break down why Framer emerged as the hero in this design journey of mine.
Visual Prototyping
Being a visual person, Framer's process in visual prototyping struck a chord with me. The ability to bring my design concepts to life seamlessly made the entire process incredibly intuitive. I could see how every element would interact and behave, ensuring a smooth and engaging user experience. This already felt really familiar given my experience with Figma.
Efficiency at it's core
As a freelancer and student, time is of the essence. Framer's simplicity and similarities with Figma allowed me to streamline the development process without compromising on creativity. This efficiency boost not only saved me valuable time but also ensured a quicker turnaround for my project.
Interactivity, No Coding Required
One of the standout features for me was Framer's animation and component capabilities. Without delving into complex coding, I could create dynamic and eye-catching animations and interactive components that added a layer of fun to my website. It's like having a personal wizard at my fingertips!
Responsive Design Made Easy
In the world of web design, ensuring a seamless experience across devices is essential. Framer's responsive design features allowed me to optimize my website for various screen sizes effortlessly. Now, whether you're on a desktop or a mobile device, the magic of my portfolio is preserved. Also it does not compromise any content as I just have to work with the main breakpoint (desktop) and everything else changes accordingly unless I make an override.
Pricing
Framer comes at a cost…at least if you're like me and want a seamless experience with a custom domain, no banner, multiple pages etc. The tiers range from free to +100€. I decided to go with the 20€/m tier, as it features everything I need. It's quite expensive, especially for a student, but thanks to my freelancing, which enabled a long term collaboration, I am luckily able to afford it.
Closing Thoughts
So, if you're a designer like me, juggling multiple hats and looking for a platform that aligns with your creative vision, give Framer a go. It's not just a tool; it's a powerful piece of software that empowers you to turn your ideas into digital masterpieces.
